Iraq the Civilization
I would like to present only two cities in Iraq which have the great civilization in the world. The First is Babylon which is called now Al Hillah. Babylon was occupied and became the capital of Hammurabi’s empire (ca. 18th Century BC). In Babylon was built the first school in the history of mankind and the first law was written and applied on the Babylonian people. As with many other large empires, Babylonian people had friends as well as enemies. So one Babylonian ruler called Nebuchadrezzar “Nebuchadnezzar the Great", he destroyed the temples in Jerusalem and the conquest of Judah. Nebuchadnezzar took many Jewish people to Babylon as prisoners. During the US invasion of Iraq on 2003, The US troops treated the ancient Babylonian ruins in very disrespectful and careless. Despite of the International condemnation for the US troops destruction Babylon, the US troops continued to camp and used Babylon as their military base. The second great city in Iraq is Baghdad. The city of Baghdad was founded on west bank of the Tigirs River on 30 July 762 A.D. by the Addasid dynasty, led by the second Abbasid Caliph the Caliph Abu Jafar al-Mansur. The city of Baghdad was designed as a circle. It was to be known as the round city. This city was protected by circular wall enclosed the city. This wall was existing until it was destroyed by ottoman Empire. Baghdad gave to all mankind without exception whether local people or visitors the education in all kinds of sciences. The Abbasid Caliphs were great help and encouragement to all knowledge seekers. Baghdad continued to progress into the bright future until the invasion of the Mongols in 13 century and later on the invasion of the US troops on 2003. So the Madinate as-Salam (city of Pease) which Iraqi people used to call Baghdad, now it is in the hand of the God.
